As a child psychologist specializing in teen girls’ trauma, I do NOT recommend this movie for any child. It is anxiety inducing. It implies that adulthood has no joy, and it may actually be a trigger for suicidal ideation in teens approaching adulthood. It implies that joy is only for children, not adults, which leaves one with the impression that the best years of their lives are behind them. I cried buckets thinking about all of the suicidal young girls I tried to help. They do not need to be triggered by such a depressing message that this movie imparts. As years go by, I hope they all made it to be able to have happy, healthy lives as adults. What audience was this movie made for? Young children won’t understand it, adolescents will be emotionally triggered by it, especially if they are approaching puberty. Adults will be annoyed by the shrill yelling as characters read their lines, while being bored by the shallowness and chaos of the plot. I think all of these five star ratings are AI bots promoting this movie for Pixar profits.
