Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a show about a 12 year old boy who finds out his father is a Greek god. Zeus’s master bolt was stolen and he has to go find it then return it. And along the way he goes to the underworld to get his mother back.
After the movies you would think that they can't mess it up that bad again. Well, if that's what you thought, then you may be disappointed. While some things they have done (like the CGI) are very cool, it has gotten some people longing for the movies. I understand, it can't be exactly like the book and they must change some things, and sometimes it's even better, but some of the changes they made are just stupid and don't make sense.
In the book one of the coolest and creepiest moments is when Percy (Walker Scobell), Annabeth (Leah Jeffreis) and Grover (Ayran Simhadri) cross the river. In the show, they just magically get over the river with absolutely no explanation. And his fight with his “pre algebra teacher” was a decent length in the book while in the show Percy just kills it easily.
And while I dislike all of these things, there are a couple of things I like such as the CGI as I have already mentioned. The CGI architecture looks amazing like Hades’s palace. I honestly love how the writers did Ares, the actor (Adam Copeland) was fantastic.
Magical moments are quite cool in movies, but when it doesn't make sense and it's not explained… it's not that cool. For example in an episode Annabeth just magically climbs the wall with no explanation. I mean it's fine I suppose, but it would be nice to have it be explained to us.
Overall, I would say it's 3 stars. There were some good moments but with all the useless talking and boring moments I would recommend this to people who have not read the books. People who have will probably be very angry. Not to mention that but I also am in the age group this is targeted for.
I wrote this awhile ago for a school project and I found it quite funny.
