Lorraine Benn

This is a beautifully written book, referring to happy childhood memories in Shanghai before the disappearance of his parents and his life in England from the age of ten. He achieves his childhood dream of becoming a good detective, but still needs to return to Shanghai to find out what really happened to his parents. The novel kept me intrigued from the beginning as there was always the mystery of his parents' disappearance which he knew he would have to investigate when he could find out enough about the case.
