I was never able to get into Star Trek. Checked The Orvilleit out only because I knew one of the cast members. Turned out to be a welcome surprise. Very smart and sophisticated. Basically, a realistic look at present day interpersonal issues and conditions, but with a backdrop of being 400 years in the future. I liked the premier show - the 2nd episode was a little flat and uneven, but passable. Tonight was the 3rd episode, and was absolutely terrific. I expect it to build a strong audience.
