Pauley Perretti and Antonio Raul Corbo are wonderful in their roles and the storyline of a single mom and the issues she faces is good. However, her supporting cast stinks and that storyline seems to be taking over the show. It drives me crazy that I have to read subtitles throughout the show. And, the likelihood of two such people being sisters, is low. Pauley's character is so down to earth. Her sister is a snob. Where would she have met such a man to marry? I have heard of sisters being opposites, but this storyline doesn't mesh. The first episode stated they had only been separated for five years, but her sister had never seen the child, who is at least in first grade (which would make him about 6 or 7), but probably 2nd. Both sisters appear to be at least in their late twenties, early thirties. Onto the second episode, it still stinks. How is it possible that someone who looks to be in their late twenties, early thirties and has only been away since getting married have no job skills? And, why oh why, is her husband so stupid? Why is there a need to portray a spoiled rich person as stupid? It's NOT funny. It would be funny if maybe he just didn't understand the culture. And, if the father of the rich guy really wanted to teach him a lesson, why does he pay the driver's wages and obviously the car insurance? He is a paid driver, but now he is acting like a butler and maid. He is a stranger just like the brother in law, but let's just trust these people you know nothing about alone, leave them in your house and babysit your kid. And please, can we get away from the whole gay thing. EVERY show we turn on nowadays has a character who is gay. I am so tired of having it rammed down my throat. It means that somewhere down the road, episode after episode will be about his problems with partners. It is how every show goes. It is such a shame. Ms. Perretti deserves her own show, but come on people. Find decent writers who will make her the star instead of having the storyline all over the place and about everyone else and their problems. Go back and look at some of the great shows like The Courtship of Eddy's Father, The Andy Griffith Show, Grace Under Fire, Mom, One Day at a Time (from the 70's), and Good Times. Bring back the old issues single parents faced, put an update on it, and add the punch lines.
