I loved this movie.
Majority of the people who have issues with it, aren't delving deeper into the meaning. It takes a special person to enjoy the mind twister that this movie is and a special person to understand it.
Like in literature, we have to consider the question of "Can we trust this perspective?" In Erin Bell's case, we couldn't. Her last minutes of her life, she showed us what SHE saw, those events that shaped her and made her who she is. From the very beginning, she was struggling with the SAME PROBLEMS (physical and emotional) as the end. She warped our mind into thinking that the plot was linear but it wasn't. This is great acting and even better directing. If I were to go back and watch it, ten bucks I'd be able to pick out the scenes where she was hurting.
This plays into the theory that before we die, we see our life play out once more.
We see how one infiltration shaped and changed a person. How it messed her up so badly she couldn't return to normal.
There are no loose ends from Bell's perspective, we only perceive that cause we didn't see it. Now I know, thinking during a movie is tough. Thinking in general seems to be a difficulty that most people posses, but when you look at it? It's Chrystal clear.
The makeup was also very well done. It intensifies what she is feeling. At first I found it detesting and horrible too, but as I started thinking about it I found that it was perfect. How would you expect a woman going through those challenges along with alcoholism look?
I challenge you to watch it again. It was a fantastic mind bending movie.
