The film is a series of disjointed, non-linear scenes that fail to portray credible, three-dimensional characters in any dramatically interesting way and which does a disservice to a good novel by a meticulous writer who spent 10 years crafting the story. To quote Yeats: “Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold. . .” “The ceremony of innocence is drowned . . .” by a mediocre script and a director not up to the task of adapting the rich complexities of the story to the screen.
