Escape From Tarkov is hands down the best FPS title that I've ever laid my hands on. I presently have about 400 hours on the game, and that's from playing regularly over the last 8 months. The game concept is unique and creative; it's unlike anything I've played in the past. The gameplay is great and boasts high-intensity gunfights that really get your heart going. This said, the game does have a pretty steep learning curve, and it takes some time and commitment to figure out its plethora of obscure mechanics. There is no tutorial of any kind, which essentially forces a player to use external sources (I.E. the internet) to figure everything out. I had no trouble with this early on, however, as the game has an awesome community that is helpful and supportive towards new players. I would HIGHLY recommend this game, but just understand what you're getting yourself into when you buy it.
This game is in its early stages of development, which means that there are a lot of bugs, several of which are game-breaking. The devs are aware of this and are working hard to fix them. New bug fixes and patches are released almost every other week. Lastly, this game is what many would call a "hardcore experience". It is not for people who enjoy casual shooters like COD or the like. It is brutally unforgiving, but as such is equally as rewarding and satisfying. You will die, but so will everyone else.
Like all things, the game is significantly more fun when played with friends. It's balanced in such a way that a skilled solo player can easily take down a full 5 man squad, but it's still more fun to go in with a group of friends.
TLDR: If you're on the fence, just buy the game. You'll enjoy it if you're willing to put in the time to learn the ins and outs. It's not for casual players, however, so avoid it if you're not looking for a hardcore experience. The game is buggy, but it gets better every other week. Bring friends. The game scales up in goodness for every friend that you throw in the blender. That's pretty much it.
This was my very first game review, and I'm glad that it was for a game that really stands out from all the others.
