I wanted to like this book, I was expecting an overarching narrative where everything would be tied together...but not so much. It’s more a collection of short stories around the theme of trees. I do love trees, and some of the information was fascinating...but I need to be drawn into a novel. These characters and stories were mildly depressing and the theme of human failings ever before my eyes. I don’t need to be reminded of that. Technical writing 5 stars Descriptive language 5 stars Early character development 3 stars I just didn’t find it likeable.
