This self-labeled shame expert is going to talk to me about vulnerability and courage when she spends at least the first 15 minutes of this show talking about irrelevant self-involved anecdotes that serve to inflate her image? "look at all these silly book covers they did of my book all over the world!", "omg- i've been selected to do tedX!, what if i do some thing *really radical* and just be VULNERABLE!?.. and the video just totally BLEW UP omg I had no IDEA!" The entire intro reeked of narcissism to be honest. I couldn't get past the first 15 minutes.
update:
Just watched her other talks—wow this really feels like an "enlightened" narcissist just went out and capitalized off of her "observations" that are just flat common sense to those of us who have empathy and don't struggle with vulnerability. The important research that's missing is this: does this type of professing actually have the ability to enlighten or change those who struggle with being vulnerable? I'm gonna put bets on no.
