Saw it last night on Amazon Prime. GREAT movie! Mountain family loses Mom in house fire, son & father withdraw into isolated bitterness and separation. Much the same happens to a family of eagles: father-eagle gets killed in battle for his kingdom; mother-eagle can only care for the stronger of the two eaglets, abandons the smaller eaglet. Young Lukas, isolated, bitter, and lonely after Mom's death by fire, happens across the abandoned eaglet. Nurtures him to full eagle-hood. Eventually, Lukas knows that to be free, Abel, the full-grown eaglet, must find his own path in life. Lukas lets Abel fly free and grieves over loss of his only friend in the mountains. Abel finds and battles his older brother, Cain, the two make peace, but a winter storm kills Cain. Abel becomes the lone king of the mountain. Two years later, father and son make peace. Father urges Lukas to stop pining for Abel. Then, out of the deep blue sky, Abel plunges down and lands on Lukas's falconer's gloved hand! The three are ecstatic! Loss, bitterness, loneliness, anger, family battles, peace, hope, and redemption!!!
