Yes, the plot was confusing, but all in all a good basic storyline. Personally I liked it. Costuming, sets, all very good. The acting was good when it came to characters like Keith and Sam. Nicola was interesting (I suppose). It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea - you've got to have an acquired taste for it. Not having read the book, I can't say much on that part.
