Ben was my uncle, but we were close enough in age that we were much more like brother and sister and for the most part, were raised as such.
Ben was 6 years old when our Uncle Mike Jones who was a Viet Nam Veteran with no wife or children of his own had begun to see promise in his little nephew and his interest in playing acoustic guitar. It was those seeds that were planted that had begun that child's musical career.
Ben had many opportunities to excel over the years, but for reasons, I will never understand; opted to remain in Kansas City. I guess I must say that since that is what he had chosen to do he was blessed to have Max Berry of Enneagram Records pick him up and created a home for four recorded CDs; beautifully created and with some of KC's finest musicians.
September 1st was the fourth anniversary of his death. It's almost as if he is speaking to me. It's as if he wants me to reach out to all of the wonderful people who helped him with his earthly mission of bringing sounds of the Universe through his poetry and music.
Anyone who knew Ben loved him dearly. I know he's still missed and always will be by many.
I've spent the last week in remembrance. I know that few people know, but every song on every CD is literally an experience he has either observed that profoundly affected him or was a story from his own life. He has give songs to all of us who were closest to him while he was here.
I hope that you will take the time to go back and listen to his stories. If you would like to purchase any of his CD's there are many avenues. You may purchase directly from Enneagram records, Amazon, CD Baby, and many more.
Just about every song he has done is on Youtube for your listening pleasure.
Thank you again to his friends, family, and loved ones who have been a pat of his journey. To Max Berry, his family and artists featured on Ben's CD''s we; his family are grateful to you for all you've done to bring it all together. We wish you health, wealth and happiness always.
