I have to start by saying I cannot fathom the reasons for the amount of negative reviews this game has had. I’ve read quite a few, and now that I have just finished the game (which took me 31 and a half hours of gameplay with countless restarts and reloads) , my strong suspicion is most people hit the first half hour of storyline and immediately jumped online to express their frustration.
I’ve read negative reviews of gameplay, of story, of AI, and I cannot rationalize it one bit.
There is not one aspect of the original game that the developers did not improve on in this sequel. The graphics are absolutely outstanding, including some really neat and impressive animations. The AI, while not perfect, is still better than the original where it was already decent. You feel like you’re hunting real humans, even while some of their behavior may be predictable.
The story is rough. It’s dark, it’s gritty, it’s absolutely enthralling. If you’ve read more than two reviews you’ve probably gotten the major spoiler, but let me tell you this - it happens in the first half hour, and you have about 30 hours of story left which absolutely is another masterpiece from Neil Druckman.
I cannot say enough good about this game. Rarely do sequels outshine their originals, but this is absolutely a prime example of such.
Do not listen to the internet hate, judging by how long this has been out I’m sure it’s mostly people lashing out angrily over a story twist they didn’t like.
Enjoy the ride!
