This movie is supposedly about an alien sent to destroy Earth. It's quite likely that aliens will destroy earth in the near future. I think that's the message being put across, plain and simple. The real story, though, is found in the Bible. Likely God will empower Satan to destroy the earth, just as He empowered Jesus to save it. So there's going to be destruction coming, but many will be saved.
