While I never had any high expectations for the movie since the country had some bad raps when it comes to making CGI based superhero movie (Looking at you, Garuda), I later found out to my delight that the movie did not use that much CGI at all and the social issue they used on the story hits lots of sensitive spots, especially for us Asians.
While I really welcomed the news for a cinematic universe from Bumilangit, the hardly concealed attempt to prepare the settings for said universe in this movie is not really a good thing. There are like a bajillion of characters and since i never read any of the comics, didn't have a slightest clue about them and the focus on MC and the antagonist did not really help with that issue, if not at all. I mean why don't try something like Iron Man? one MC and one bad guy fight each other and be done with it?
Still, with all that said, I'd be lying if I say i did not giggle and clap for the whole duration for the movie just for the fact that my fellow countryman actually pulled something good, and in a form of superhero movie nonetheless.
Will be waiting for the next movie, BCU!
