This movie honestly could have been great. Disney finally set itself up to do a redeeming main star wars movie. The music was incredible, the acting was top notch, the effects were gorgeous, the story was mostly engaging and not totally dead, and the movie had so many good scenes going for it. The messages about resistance, about hope, and about believing in a cause were executed awesomely. I was SO ready to sing this movie's praises. From it's use of some good legends story lines to some amazing heart tugging scenes, this movie sold it all. Until the end. They butchered the ending, left plot holes open, did unexplained things and in general took all this positive star wars momentum and nuked it from orbit. Do yourself a favor, enjoy the movie, and leave the theater just a little early.

Honestly, speaking as a Godzilla fan, it’s one of the best in the genre. Are the human characters subpar? Yeah, but their story actually does make sense, their motives are flawed but in a realistic and understandable way, and it’s better than 2014s acting. Music was awesome, it takes the weight and intensity of the score that 2014 had and also mixes in some tasteful favorites from the old days. The battles are breathtaking, nonstop, and everything fans could hope for. Godzilla, the king himself? Star of the show, stole the theater and has never looked more amazing. If you watch Godzilla for some human action, you might be disappointed, but if you want to watch this for the giant monster battles, for the love of Godzilla see it.
