[Implied spoilers, kinda minor not sure]
Not really a review and only my 2 cents on the game
I think the reaction to this game is very similar to The last Jedi. The sequels had many promising, unique ideas that if executed well could have become a staple in the way stories are told. However, in both cases this did not happen and only resulted in amazing messes.
So why am I talking about the last jedi? Well its because if you want to have any enjoyment from this game you have to abandon your expectations and take it for what it is.
This is a game that has many highs and many lows. I honestly don't think it deserves 1 star at all if we consider every other factor of the game like graphics and gameplay.
For me the greatest feat of the game was the choices made with the two main characters.
The character development of Ellie and Abby in my opinion were done really well. They successfully made me empathise with Abby by the end despite some weird sections in her part of the game. Ellie's disillusionment arc was also done well and I was really dreading her actions in last part of the game (more so for her because I knew what was going to happen to her).
Now I'm not going to go through all the negatives since you've most likely seen them all by now. However, the biggest problems for me in particular was the weak beginning act, the way they handled Joel as it had almost no emotional impact and finally the structure because yikes.
Overall, I enjoyed most parts of the last of us part 2 its just the negative parts really scale down the enjoyment factor.
Should you get it? For gameplay and graphics sure but if you are searching for an emotional story then its a big if...
Thanks for reading this useless "review".
