Good acting, depressing story, and 'is that it?' ending
My ending was much more satisfactory: she's driving back along unfamiliar country lanes at night drunk, he's walking same lanes having been thrown out of the cab as he has no money: she runs into him and kills him, buries him in the hole with the horse, and the family return to the US of A - voila!
