The devs took what was great about the first game, took one look at that formula and shat all over it. Instead of one massive, well designed world and levels interlinking with one another, they were too lazy to go through all that effort that they just split the world into different levels. That's it. Instead of building up tension by traversing levels and getting to a boss, the bosses just overlap and spawn wherever they want. That means that the game is now a boss rush where you can fight 4 bosses at once. This becomes troublesome because they all spawn their own minions and use abilities as much. Another thing that makes absolutely no sense is that when you're hunting a mage (boss), he runs away by teleporting somewhere in that level. You then need to hunt him again to fight him and damage him so that he can run away again. Do that enough times and they finally decide to face you. This cowardly running away mechanic of the game really is so tedious, it becomes boring within the first hour or two. Bosses drop materials that you use to craft and level gear, but it just feels so lame. Exploration isn't really rewarded with weapons, but rather some armor set, salt, silver or crafting materials. No weapons can be found in chests. Really utterly disappointed in this game to the point where if I actually bought this on Steam, I'd immediately ask for a refund. Hopefully the devs will take the 1st game, add new weapons, levels and enemies and just give it a new name, because Salt and Sacrifice just isn't the game you think it's going to be, which should've been Salt and Sanctuary 2.
