In order to properly rate this movie, you must first categorize it as lower budget. Then accept the fact that things like the acting, script and special effects (or lack thereof) can't compete with the exorbitant budgets of major Hollywood blockbusters. Once you can do that, the true excellence of Wish Man really shows. This is a movie that is all about plot and substance, and it begins to shed some light on the idea that life can have purpose and that hope makes a difference. If you can manage to see past the sometimes cheesy dialogue, you just might begin to realize that somewhere inside you there too is a yearning for a greater purpose for your own life and that at times you wish you could simply allow yourself to feel the hope that you have come to distrust. It is for these reasons that this film is in fact one of the greats.
