I really enjoyed the first season of The Witcher and am actually contemplating re-watching it only a couple of weeks after having finished it. We binged it over a weekend - trust me, it's worth it.
If you're not a fantasy fan, it may not be for you, but you don't have to have read the books or played the games to get into it. There are some instances where the characters make reference to things outside of the TV show (presumably from the books/games), which occasionally makes it a little difficult to follow, hence the 4 stars; otherwise, it's really well done.
I really wasn't sure how Henry Cavill would work as Geralt of Rivia, but he's brilliant. I love his aloof, but caring portrayal of the titular character, and he very much embodies the 'white wolf.' Watching Yennefer's struggle through life to create her persona in the present day is great characterisation on both the actor and writers' part - I just would've liked a similar in-depth look into Geralt, as well. Hopefully that'll be coming in season 2 ;).
