#ShubhMangalZyadaSavdhaan
Too much focus on the message sometimes cripples the movie for majority of the audience. Therefore it becomes important to strike a balance between the message and the entertainment for the movies to be commercially viable. Shubh Mangal Zyada Savdhan has executed that really well.
Long time coming, the movie attacks the homophobia rooted in most Indian households. Educating people about article 377 and challenging the norms, the movie is by far the best attempt Bollywood has made in this genre. One step at a time, of course.
One of the best thing about the movie is the casting!Everyone fits so well in this light hearted family drama, it generates a rib tickling comedy time to time. Gajraj Rao and Manu Rishi are terrific.
What can we write more about Ayushmann Khurrana! Even Virat Kohli is out of touch at times but Ayushmann is unstoppable. This would be his 8th hit in a row. Statistically 90% actors have retired before giving there 8th hit, so you know how big is that achievement. But the best thing about this streak is the variety of roles and characters he has portrayed. A hit machine with no-nonsense movies is rare in our industry. Be it Article 15, Andhadhun, Badhai Ho, Dream girl, Bala, or Shubh Mangal, each one carries a subject which most of the stars today won't be comfortable to sign for!
From standing in the line to audition for MTV Roadies 2004, to becoming the hit machine, National Award winner, Ayushmann Khurrana is a success story which would inspire many.
I might be biased, but the person who stole the show for me is our very own, Jitu Bhaiya aka TVF fame Jitendra Kumar. His acting is natural and his vulnerability as a person trying to come out of closet is beautiful. And what a journey it has been for him. From TVF Intern Qtiyapa, to Pitchers, to Kota Factory, and now the silver screen. JITU bhaiya has ARRIVED!
It's not a perfect movie and there are miss hits. Some dialogues feels unnecessary or out of place. A few comic sequence looks enforced giving a cliched taste. And in an attempt to capture too many things the message gets further diluted at certain points.
But all in all, the pros heavily dominates the cons. A progressive movie, it's a good watch and definitely deserves your 2 hours of time. Go for it!
