All of O'Reilly books are easy reads. He cuts through the weeds to provide the reader with historical information that is easy to understand. In this book, he recounts religious philosophies that shaped the founding of America, from the Salem witch trials through the American Revolution and beyond.

I don't understand how Steel keeps getting published. Her writing is disjointed and her plots simplistic.

I figured out the plot less than half-way through, but the writing is good and suspenseful.

I like "true crime" books and this one was intriguing on many levels. However, there was a lot of name dropping of people and places that was not necessary but maybe was used to promote the author in the eyes of other millennials. In this particular case, the story is more about millennials surrounding themselves with supposed power, wealth and fashionable "brands" as it is about a con artist and her prey.
