It's sad that a lot of peoples introduction to the game was Fossil Fighters Frontier for the 3DS. That game skewed the core mechanics of the first two games so far that people became discouraged to give them a chance in the first place. If you are new to the series I highly recommend picking up Champions, the second game, because it is the furthest story driven game while keeping the fun, rewarding aspects of the first game.
