A decent attempt at a renewal of the original Gundam 0079, but while character moments are fairly well handled, moral bias towards the Coordinators over the Naturals, incredibly implausible examples of plot armor, unnecessary gaslighting and sexual manipulation from a 14-year-old drag it down heavily. Flaws are very loud, in your face, and pronounced, and the MC is much less dynamic and nuanced a character than he is just slowly turning into a perfect superhuman. The teenage characters are grating at best and horrible at worst. The adults do uplift the series for their personality, the mentor of the protagonist is an astounding secondary character, and the main villain is one of the best Gundam villains of all time. However, the rest of the villains are one-dimensional assholes bent on extermination campaigns, and the state of this alt universe is enough to make one wonder if the main villain — a straw nihilist of the highest degree — is correct to believe that humanity is not worth saving as the protagonist believes.

I like to call this show the better, sexier Gundam SEED. The characters are actually likeable, there's lots more fanservice, and the one character who has stupid plot armor is one of my favorite characters in the show! It's just a shame that it's only 25 episodes... but the animation is gorgeous, the artstyle is beautiful, Tusk and Ange are adorable together, and the series starts and ends strong, with a happy ending. Only complaints are that the series is a bit too short and could've used more of the First Company characters having their own arcs, as well as more male characters who weren't villains... that, and a few sexually offensive scenes, so probably not for everyone... but I enjoyed it, and I highly recommend it to those who love cute anime girls, giant mecha, fanservice, occasional yuri, and more!

If sugary sweet cuteness were an anime, Dragon Maid would certainly be it. The perfect mixture of a slice of life and fantasy!

A powerful statement against war itself, as well as the source of what I can consider the most horrifying scene in anime, which very much reflects man's own inhumanity to itself.
