You know, I actually used to like this movie as a kid. But looking at it now, it's just bad. I mean, horrifyingly bad. I will give it credit that they managed to move past the cartoony sound effects, the opening sequence is awesome, and there are decent performances from Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Applegate, and Bette Midler. But everything else about is horrible! The plot development feels sped up, most scenes are filled up with exposition, the entire sub-plot involving Shane wanting to adopt Diggs is unnecessary, the humor is terrible consisting of pop culture references, racist jokes, and innuendos, Nick Nolte is no Alec Baldwin, the action is unengaging, some plot points are never explained or don't make any sense, some plot points are explained several times, some of the voice acting doesn't match up with the animals' looks, Wallace Shawn is no Jon Lovitz, and it treats its audience like idiots with all the repeated plot points and talking animals! It's almost as if the writers and producers have never seen the first movie. I can see why this movie has a 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It's literally as bad as Hoodwinked 2. Rating: 1/10
