A riveting intersection between deep-rooted desperations and unfolding hopes !
'In The Land Of Lovers' is a wonderful book and the author has woven the story with an organic deftness . Through the protagonist Nanki, the author bridges an interrelationship between the reader and other characters and there grows an unwavering bonding .While meandering through the pages ,you will get a glimpse of throbbing sores of partition (that affected Punjab the most), and the traumatic lives of the varied characters quite alike in terms of arousing empathy. In quite thin volumes of the book , the author has impressively drawn the wide spectrum of pain , dejection , sarcasm , sense of loss and vulnerability . My favourite part of the book is the prompt and ironic dialogues between two Marasis. Those who have spent their lives in Chandigarh can easily connect to its settings and characters , nevertheless there is something beyond that quintessential Punjab element in this book and the reader eventually falls in love with its essence.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I am looking forward to read more books by the author.
