John David Washington and Zendaya put forth an extremely exhilarating yet at times exhausting performance. They’re talent was mesmerizing and critics only rate it as low as they do because they cannot fathom empathizing with the plight of black movie makers sharing their frustrations. Is this art imitating life or life imitating art? Regardless, both actors put on a stellar performance. Yes, it seems like a play, but that set up allows the viewer to get a glimpse, up close and personal of the struggles within this relationship and film directors life. It’s like watching a movie through a fine lens and I’m ok with that.
