8.5/10 Joker is a gritty homage to films like "Taxi Driver" and "King of Comedy" (with the Batman mythology thrown in for good measure). Joaquin Phoenix is nothing short of transcendent in the title role, but really everyone is terrific. If you like the above mentioned films, you will like this.

The Orville is for those who loved Star Trek (especially The Next Generation). For those who just don't "get" or understand Star Trek, maybe this show is not for you. On the other hand, my wife doesn't particularly care for Star Trek and she loves The Orville, so there you go.
