To clarify, this is my rating for playing the PS4 console port of Chernobylite. In terms of graphics, mechanics, and story, I would say it's a great survival horror experience set in one of the most interesting locations for any game. Chernobyl is one of the most interesting events to have happened in human history. And the atmosphere of Chernobylite really hits that home. Mechanics and story are effective in delivering both the survival and horror aspects. My biggest problem with the game is it's performance on PS4. Frequent game crashes would be a greater issue if the game didn't create save checkpoint every few minutes, allowing you to boot the game back up and start from your most recent checkpoint. However, I did run into a bug that has really got me frustrated with the whole thing. Using the fractal timeline to influence my past choices within the story, I want to collect any additional Intel and tools that I had missed before embarking on the final mission. In doing so, the game crashed and then bugged to where it now starts me off at the very beginning of the game no matter which of my previous saves I load up. So I now have to start the game from scratch after having gotten so close to the end. This game needs a serious bug patch on consoles. If the performance issues with this game could be fixed, I would gladly give it 5 stars. But these issues are so annoying and now I'm not certain if I can even complete the game on PS4 without running into this bug again. Please The Farm 51! Patch this game on consoles as soon as possible!
