Couldn't wait to see the film because I love Olivia Colman. Couldn't wait for the film to end because if it wasn't the worst I've ever seen ... it was one of the top two. It was like watching the feeling you get with restless leg syndrome. Where you feel like if only you could go to sleep, it would go away, but since you can't make it stop ... you can't go to sleep and it won't go away. In the beginning, you'll anxiously await something happening. Midway you'll be looking around to see if you're being punked. And finally you'll be repeating, "W I T A F did I just suffer through?!?!?"

If this series had commercials for floor wax and detergent, I could at least say it was a horrendous but modern version of a 1950’s soap opera. But, I can’t even give it that much “praise”. I’m really shocked at any positive reviews especially for Renée Zellweger’s totally melodramatic performance. I have always loved her which is why I decided to watch the series to begin with. Rocky & Bullwinkle would have not only given a better performance they would’ve had better storylines. One of the subplots that involved the characters Dr Archer & Dr Evans is directly out of a vignette involving Snidely Whiplash & Nell, but ... there were no ropes, railroad tracks, or trains involved. Now, the character Gabriel Mann plays was fashioned after Dash Riprock of the Flintstones fame. If you have a choice between watching this and having all of your teeth pulled out without the benefit of Novacaine, go for the extractions. I’m just saying.

I won’t say it was the worst movie I’ve ever watched but it’s definitely one of the top two. And, I will add I’d rather have my eyes sucked out through coffee stirrers than watch it again. SJP draws every scene out to the point where I was yelling “end scene” at the screen. The interminable close ups, her rudeness, the pretentious drift into French dialogue with her self absorbed mother, and continual pregnant pauses with no climax left me annoyed with her character rather than empathetic. In spite of myself, I was moved to tears. But only because I’ll never get that time back. If you like SJP, don’t watch this movie. It will change your opinion.

Season 1 was engaging and kept me rooting for her. She had a method to her madness. Her husband treated her horribly and she had every reason to go off the deep end. But, by season’s end, she should have had closure with the way things evolved. She got the divorce, her son was with her, she had her house & Simon & Kate moved away. By Episode 1 of Season 2, I couldn’t tolerate her. Her character became intensely annoying and she caused her own hell. I don’t know if I have the strength to watch another episode.
