After finishing the game I have to admit, I started it fully expecting to hate it. Abby did take some getting used to, but I believe I enjoyed playing her part of the game more than Ellie. Abby had purpose, to protect and help Lev, it was more refreshing. Ellie was pretty linear, just revenge.
** Spoliers**
I found myself more drawn to Abby’s story overall, but it’s a bit hard to swallow some parts of her story. Like she kills all her wolf team with no remorse, people she trained and lived with but wouldn’t kill Ellie who she doesn’t know from a bar of soap. The final battle between Ellie and Abby after she let her down from the pillars, the state of Abby really draws pitty and sympathy. Abby’s first thought is not about attacking Ellie, but about protecting her companion and getting them all out of there. She is even thankful for Ellie saving them. Ellie forces her to fight.
Also I don’t think it’s mentioned to Ellie throughout the game that Joel killed her dad. She just thinks it’s because they couldn’t make a cure.
Oh, I deducted a star because the game started to feel really long. Dragged out.
