Loved it. I watch it every year. It helped illuminate the book and place the different prophecies at the appropriate stage in the story, which the book, basically a collection of disjointed poetry, doesn't do. The message of a God who runs history is very convincing as well as the tension between prophecy and the established religious order. Imagining Jeremiah's personal life and how it intersects with the story and the prophecies is great Midrash. My main issue is that the acting, particularly of Jeremiah's, is very unconvincing. There are times that he comes off as a nut instead of as a sensitive, rational man imparating information he has heard from god. Like when he tells Hananiah that he's going to die, a mad look comes over him. He should have very calmly and rationally told him that he was going to die. Other times he sounds like a typical street preacher yelling fire and brimstone, not like a prophet. But then again I am Jewish and this movie was made by Christians; and our religious culture is different. I do appreciate them not projecting Jesus into the movie so that Jews as well can enjoy and learn from it.
