The atmosphere and production value are nice.
That said, elements of a crime drama almost take a back seat to the leftist evangelism. The storyline is riddled with tired tropes and preachy lionization of illegal immigrants while trying to instill white guilt and model how the "privileged" can atone for their selfishness.
The Branagh Wallander is much more Nordic Noir and less "social justice."
If you can look past the silly stereotypes and the painfully predictable plot resolution, Young Wallander is a mediocre watch.
