I really enjoyed this film. It's quite different to anything I've seen before overall and becomes very emotional as the story unfolds leading you down one of those twisted endings that I didn't see coming. At all.
At first you'll pick up on tributes or references to other films such as Close Encounters which are quite well done. Then the story veers into an altogether different path.
I especially loved the play with light and the contrasting black and white/colour scenes presented in unison, as well as throughout.
Also, it's more emotional than you expect. Spiritual also comes to mind, in parts.
The music was well-written enhancing the story in all the right places. The acting, directing and cinematography were all excellent also.
Most of all, I enjoyed it because it was different which is surely a challenge these days. You won't think so at first but relax as it unfolds before you.
It may not appeal to the regular sci-fi enthusiast. I think it would suit audiences that enjoy a bit of supernatural, dystopia and drama. It isn't at all scary or gory so if that's what you're after, this film won't be for you.
Looking forward to more from this very promising writer/director team.
