10/10 Read.
I’m not much of a reader, just because I find it hard to focus on what’s happening while understanding the premise of a book, but this one caught my eye and I had to pick it up. When you first get into it, you’re confused but by the end it ties up so beautifully, everything is written so well and has so much depth. You can hear Jennette’s voice through her angers and frustration in her writing, it makes you feel like you’re there but by the end, it lets you know you’re not. The book is based off of her life, so you can’t criticize characters or the way things are portrayed, it’s so raw and hard to digest at times, I sat the book down for weeks sometimes and had to come back. But it’s reality, it is really unfortunate, but the way she made light of what happened, everything about how she wrote, it was beautiful. It touched me in a way, that someone who never reads books or writes reviews, just had to because I felt seen and heard by someone else in a way I never imagined. I know it’s wrong to compare someone else’s life to yours to feel better, but reading this book, made me feel less alone.
TL:DR: Fantastic book, left me with tears and laughing, it might take some time to finish but don’t forget about it, it is worth it to finish.
