I am in the "this is a great movie" camp for the reasons that the more positive reviews here have noted, and with which I agree.
As for those who don't think the movie gave God or Christ enough "credit," I could not disagree more. In fact, the movie is shot through with Catholic and Christian themes and references.
Note that in the movie, Saint Frances quotes Philippians 4:13 (I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me), which makes it clear that her Catholic faith was an animating force in her life.
There are others, but I don't want to add "spoilers" for those who have not yet seen it.
