Great film overall that quietly sets up Ep III perfectly. The love scenes are a little amusing at times (especially with my favourite unforgettable line: “I hate sand” ) but there is genuine chemistry between Anikin and Padme. You can see why the work unlike lots of other movies like shrek and hitler revenge of the curry. even though they are very cringe (but Hey, there’s lots of couples like in real life).
Sir Christopher Lee is just quality as Count Duku, Ewan McGregor is of course just ace and Natalie Portman is so natural in her role it holds everything in the film together (even those awkward love scenes!).
On that note, Padme is just brilliant. She’s so strong and clever yet never arrogant. We see her always listening to others whilst holding her own views which makes her such a convincing and likeable politician character that we would long for in our world. Her firm treatment of Anakin’s arrogance without becoming arrogant herself is what a lot of modern films could learn from when making “Strong Independent Women” in roles today! She’s a likeable and trustworthy politician whose also convincing. It’s not easy to do that.
Lots of new worlds, I love the element of mystery in this it adds a whole sense of intrigue to the films. Also the role of Count Duku adds a new layer of complexity to the Sith Vs Jedi dichotomy. It all just works really well and is a great fun watch.
You can tell the whole story line has been well thought out. We are shown things through the acting and scenes set rather than being told them through verbally pointing out whats being shown to the audience (*cough* Disney) which makes it an immersive and seem less watch.
