I’ve played every iteration of EA’s Madden series dating back to 2005 so know that EA does not make the highest quality sports simulation games. However, FIFA 23 is without a doubt the worst game I’ve played of theirs. I’ve spent over 1500 hours playing the player careers and manager career modes, because FIFA is the only soccer game that provides you with a player career mode. Honestly, I don’t know if you can design a game to be further apart from what actually happens on the pitch. You will not have to worry about learning how to take free kicks, as you might get 2 opportunities all season where you get fouled near the box. You will not have to worry about defending crosses, as the AI will never cross the ball. Even on goal kicks, it is impossible to simulate real life buildups from the back. It honestly feels like EA doesn’t understand the game of soccer, and hasn’t made their AI play like how regular soccer players would play. It feels too robotic

They need a new game engine. The gameplay strays further and further away from reality every year, with no sign of any change.
