SPOILERS included. I’m on season 3. At first it reminded me of Lord of the Flies, then of the tv series Lost. Cusick was in Lost also.
With out a doubt, the show - like Lost - is interesting and engaging but some stuff can be really silly like eating live cockroaches and the ridiculous endless violence.
The 100 is for sure really into serious violence. The POW tortures leave nothing to the imagination. All the protagonists have killed directly or indirectly. Lots of unnecessary deaths when people could have been easily injured instead. Sad to see the kids of ”our future”’ engage in this within hours of arriving to the planet. The adults are no better. Justice is selective especially if there is a loved one involved.
Even though this is about “teenagers”, I feel it has too much gratuitos violence for kids under 16, at least. The lesbian scenes are confusing since Clark was so in love with Finn at one point but now she is into women? I guess she is bi now? This topic could have been brought into the show in a more sensitive and intelligent manner.
Murphy is one of the most interesting characters and by season 3, he has endured so much physical and mental pain, one can’t help but feel for him. His acting is one of the best in the show so far.
Fast forwarding the violence, keeps it interesting if only to see the main characters (predictably) overcome what should have been certain death. Often the show conviniently kills someone else minutes before a main character does exactly the same thing and survives.
Like what others have said: it’s a good show if one doesn’t think too much into it.
