Octavia Spencer & Anne Hathaway ... what's not to love although I wonder if the actors felt challenged by their roles. Still, incredibly gifted actors who roll into and through their characters. This is a no brains fantasy that held my attention and moved quickly - nice little distraction on a Sunday afternoon. Still, I understand the negative reviews --- there's a disjointed feel to it. The Grand Witch character is who targets children but sets and costumes are cartoonish. Chris Rock's emotive energetic narrative is attributed to a quiet shy child/mouse. I wasn't sure why the voiceover was even needed. Pretty easy to anticipate plot. I'm glad I watched it. I'll watch it again because of Spencer and Hathaway, but this movie will not become part of my library.
