This film builds (no pun intended) on the first film in an amazing way, using the twist from the end of the first film to tell a really engaging and deep story. And it has great animation, gags, dialogue, soundtrack (it's not quite a musical but it flies real close to that sun.) and is an overall great production and in my opinion even better than the first one. However, you do need to see the first film to get the most out of this one, and they have very similar senses of humor. If you haven't seen first film, I would say watch it, wait a good while (couple mouths maybe) and then watch this one. This is a good film though, arguably the best of all the LEGO films and another gold star for Lord & Millers winning streak.
