This book lets you in on the secrets of the publishing industry. It makes me think it can't be that hard to get published if this book managed to find its way onto the bookshelves.
I only read this book because of my book club. I find it very repetitive. The main character goes from 'I love writing' and 'I hate writing' throughout the book. She only feels guilt when someone is haunting her on social media and when she's hated by the public - repetitive struggles.
The book is too heavy on social media. I read books to escape the addictive grip of social media, I really don't want to read about Twitter wars.
The racism portrayed in the book is also repetitive (bounces between cultural appropriation and reverse racism). It's a poor attempt at giving this book any kind of depth.
There is no character development whatsoever.
The ending is terrible. When I reached it, I genuinely thought there was another chapter to conclude things. The book just... ends.
One big meh from me.
