This movie really should be considered a Christmas Classic, if not a basic, classic movie. It's a humorous musical with wit, wisdom and courage based on a homeless person who routinely lives in the mansions of the rich while they vacation for the season. One season this man finds one, then another and another homeless person who he quietly takes in and initiates into the home he's currently staying in. Little does he know that one of the people he takes in is the daughter of the owner, who decides to play along. The owner's daughter starts coordinating who gets taken in. She has run away from finishing school and her father starts looking for her. Then things get really complicated... and funny!

A fantastic cast tells a realistically moving story of people learning about themselves and each other and learning to accept themselves and each other... something we call falling in love.

Annie is such a great musical... unfortunately, this version was probably put together with too little time for the performers to really learn their characters. Even allowing for a stage performance which is normally over the top for television, the majority of the cast, including the leads, never really mastered their characters. Taraji P. Henson as Miss Hannigan mastered her part for acting and music as did Rooster's girlfriend, Lily St. Regis played by Megan Hilty. Rooster (played by Tituss Burgess) was well performed as a character and was pretty well sung. All in all, I've seen better performed high school productions of Annie.

Good action in a story that is seldom addressed in movies. Great cast.
