Not his best. Not as clever and as biting as usual. Actually kinda boring relative to his past stuff. Put me to sleep several times, ngl.

Looking back at it now, 45 years later, it's obvious the quality of the production isn't what we are used to today. But what vintage production is? I saw this when I was about 8, with my family in our living room on our only TV. It scared the helloutta me! I had nightmares for some time and had to double check that my bedroom windows were always locked. I didn't start wearing a cross around my neck or anything, but it was the scariest thing I'd ever watched and helped turn me off the horror genre. So if you are into a good horror flick or a Stephen King fan, I definitely recommend this.

I never knew Joe Rogan was a comedian. Turns out he isn't. I'll leave it at that.

Ummm.... meh. Oops, need 30 characters. Used to be pretty good, but Bill has fallen into that "both sides" baloney because he wants some right wingers to like him.

Not gonna be for everyone. Helps if you're stoned.

Though an overall entertaining film, as a fan of Bogart and the way he played Marlowe, Gould's Marlowe comes off as lackadaisical and haphazard, if not altogether unserious. I think when you make a Philip Marlowe film you should stay true to the original written character, and if any prior examples are available then not stray far from the established film character. So not a fan of Gould's and Altman's Marlowe. But that doesn't matter if you just forget this is a Marlowe film and instead think of Gould's character as a generic gumshoe. Then it's an interesting and entertaining film.

One of the great classic film noir sleuth flicks with an engaging plot and superb acting.
