One of the most humane films I have seen over the last few months
the cow directed by Dariush Mehrjui.
is a Persian film from Iran and was made before the Islamic revolution.
Set in a small village Masht Hassan
likes his cow very much and cares for it as if was a part of himself.
When Masht Hassan is out of town an untoward incident happens to the cow and villagers plan to cushion the impact on him.Does the plan work..?
The film has a completely linear way of storytelling but then the nauances of power play and the intricate social structure of a village is shown beautifully.
This is a wonderful film much like a nutritious and fulfilling home cooked meal after eating outside for several years.
