7/10
Lititia Wright was outshone by superior performances.
Look, we all wanted this to be a good movie. But it’s not. It’s a mess. They made the best of a bad situation, but they went off script. It sucks that Boseman died, but every time Hollywood goes off script, what they come up with is never as good as the source material and this is no exception.
It’s fine. It’s 7/10.
There were really good performances. Namor was amazing. Winston Duke was transcendent, but Wright isn’t strong enough to carry Chadwick Boseman’s mantle. Michael B. Jordan, sure. Liliya Nyong’o would have been incredible.
In the end Namor stole the show. He was convincing, sympathetic and ruthless. In short, he nailed it. I don’t want to watch a whole movie about The Submariner, but this one was a great origin.
That story alone would have been good, but involving the US was distracting at best.
