Rachel McAdams is one of the prettiest actresses around , and always does a fine job. She made this film watchable , which otherwise was a stereotypical, pleasant offering with about as much depth as a souffle. A dumbed - down product for a dumbed - down generation, but it skipped along nicely and at least the ending was less cringeworthy than most American romances.

A strong performance from Daniel Zarotta as the serial killer makes this film watchable. Overall, the production values are poor, with the Director not seeming to know how to handle the large amount of material at his disposal. After a sluggish start the pace picks up and some genuine tension emerges in the last 20 minutes; but it seemed like a chance wasted to have delivered a memorable film.

I had watched every series of " The Unforgiven", with the magnificent Nicola Walker. I don't understand how this film has any relationship to that series. I had never heard of the film and just stumbled upon it. It was a wonderful surprise. The atmospherics were compelling throughout, being taut and a little spooky. The story moved quickly without any unnecessary padding. Sandra Bullock seemed extremely realistic, exactly as one would expect her character to be given the circumstances of her life. All of the other parts were played convincingly, with tight direction resulting in a flawless end product. Indeed, the film was pitch perfect throughout. I was not expecting it but the last few moments were so beautiful, really emotional. You would have to be callous not to have some tears in your eyes!

Monumentally boring. Nil action and very little dialogue. Most of the time we had to watch meals being prepared in total silence. The sparse dialogue was either pretentious or plain stupid; a typical line was "do you mind if I look at you while you are eating." Two and a quarter wasted hours. A shocker.

The first words tell us a lot: that nearly everyone in the town is inter related. Soon we see a church congregation full of feeble minds who are enthusiastically listening to a deranged preacher. There are a few decent citizens but most have lost their moral compass, and rapidly resort to violent acts. In their poverty and hopelessness they see crime and corruption as their only hope of making money. Their religious faith is rusted on, but their primitive intelligence leads them to misapply the teachings of the new testament to the extent that a wife is killed because the husband believes he can instantly achieve her resurrection. The film is refreshingly honest in that there is never a hint of any redemption for the violent acts being perpetrated. There is only a rough justice in some of the worst offenders getting their just deserts. But there is no effort to redeem themselves, no remorse or sense of shame. The citizens are, whether in metaphorical or literal terms, bound to evil for all eternity, possessed by the devil all of the time

Is Stephen Fry always right? In their college days he just knew that Emma Thompson was going to be one of the greatest actresses of her time. If anyone doubts that, just watch her brilliant work in The Children Act. It was a film where there were various possible interpretations. I thought that the childless Lady Judge lost her heart to the young lad, loving him like the son she'd never had. Almost a perfect film of its type.

A little long, otherwise very fine. Marvellous that in these dumbed down days we can still produce films of such intelligence.

Enjoyed it more than the book. It needed the love story to avoid being one dimensional. My main regret is there wasn't a more demanding role for Penelope Wilton, who is one of the truly great actresses of our times. Although in the early years of the war the German military intelligence was superior to the allied intelligence, we outwitted them several times from 1943 on, and "Mincemeat" served as almost a dry run for Garbo and co to fool Hitler about the location of the D Day landings.

Not sure what is the worst film ever but this has to be a strong contender. Glacially slow, then occasional.moments of ludicrous action. Dull dialogue and annoying music throughout. What a waste of Roberts and Hawke.

Very slow and quite boring. A flurry òf activity in the final episode. Poor characters and mundane dialogue Largely a waste of time
