I had to stay with my 78 year-old father recently to help support him through some health events. He would put this show on in the evening to help distract my 76 year-old British (US-naturalized) mother with dimentia — it worked to keep her occupied, but trying to even tolerate the existence of this show was a chore. It’s INCREDIBLY slow and poorly constructed with a main protagonist (‘Vera’) who is intentionally portrayed as a ‘know-it-all’ that is incredibly black-and-white in all her assumptions and preconceived conclusions… disapproving (‘tut, tut!’) of anything and everything that isn’t establishment-oriented. A true ‘hail to the queen/king’ for a time of yore when nazis were nazis, etc. If you’re <70 and/or mentally alert, avoid this show… if you have to occupy your mentally failing grandmother (who you love), turn it on and put on your earbuds to save yourself from the pain.

Absolutely stunning - amazing gameplay and mind-blowing detail that truly brings the wizarding and witching world to life. Constantly noticing new details - they have fully finished and animated even more he most commonplace of backdrops. No wonder if took so long to be released and I’m glad they took the time needs because it is just captivating. Storyline is immersive and fun but not overly complex so you don’t get lost. Mechanics can be a little challenging to master at first but not more than any game with such diversity of actions and combat. Yes there are some things that just don’t make logical sense in the gameplay but that’s the point - it’s a magical world so suspend your disbelief. Sad to see there are some haters but there always will be and it seems to be more about personal beef with views of JK Rowling and nothing to do with the game itself which is a masterpiece. Can’t wait to see future expansions and in the meantime it seems there is like a billion hours of gameplay here so will be able to distract myself until then. Hats off, Avalanche!
